Done with work!

At last! 18 days of standing inside and talking to customers, who have been enjoying the skiing and listening to the bluebird singing is over. I have to admit that the work itself is extremely easy just the feeling of losing so many good days which I could have spent up the mountains sucks. All in all, now I am able to pay the rent and focus more to studying and skiing.

The spring is closing in faster than I expected. This week has been extremely warm and the last two days I have been recording +18 degrees. This naturally means that the snow is escaping really fast. No more skiing between trees for this season. Luckily the snow forecast is looking pretty good for the next 4 days, on the other hand, semester break ends next Monday. Hopefully the weather will stay bit colder and leave some freshies for next Friday.

This weeks Tuesday was the first day on skis since three weeks. There was no powder to be found so the idea was just to get a nice exercise and do some touring. The evening before Bernie helped me to redo the glue on my old skins and to shape them to work with my new skis. Yeah! I got a new pair last Saturday and those babies are only 98 mm under foot. Perfect for spring touring!

The normal accomplice, Bernie, had a bad accident few weekends back while skiing some deepsnow. Unfortunately his shoulder got some serious hits and I will be waiting for his comeback next weekend! - Take it easy mate!

Happily Max volunteered to join me for the day and we did have an awesome exercise. The snow was bad and tracked but it was lovely to get my heart rate up and and ride the new skis a bit. It seems that the policy of making sports easier by losing fat works also for the skis: Losing 15 mm on the ski waist made the touring feel so much lighter. In addition, since the year changed I have been following a new training program and diet made by my good buddy Mr. Airu. So far I have lost 10 kilos and I am steadily catching my ideal weight! (If people around Tampere, Finland want to get into beach shape for the next summer, he is your guy!) It is so crazy that in a way I could be carrying 4 more sets of abs-base systems to weight the same I did in January.

Wednesday and Thursday I got to ski with my parents in Obergurgl and Sölden. First time seeing my family after X-mas was great! Another unusual thing for this season was that I had my first days on piste. After the season start at glaciers last autumn I have had no days with my on piste skis. I do still enjoy the skiing on piste but I can say that skiing outside the marked slopes without hundreds and hundreds of tourists is way more relaxing and non-frightening. When I was younger we used to go skiing with the family every year. Now that I'm living in Austria and my sister in Australia it makes things a bit more complicated. It is really nice to go ski with my folks and I hope we will do it again next year!

The collection looks even better now!
